Some of them are high in protein and emphasize products, such as meat, eggs and cheese are rich in protein and saturated fats. Some important restrict carbohydrates such as cereals, grains, fruits, vegetables and low-fat dairy products. If followed for a long time, they could lead to potential health problems. And while they may lead to rapid weight loss, more research is needed on their effectiveness for long-term weight loss.

Such diets may cause a rapid reduction in weight because eliminating carbohydrates causes the loss of fluid. Reducing consumption of carbohydrates also prevents the body from the complete burning of fat. In diets, which are also high in protein, substances called ketones are formed and released into the blood condition called ketosis. It makes dieting easier because it reduces appetite and can cause nausea.

And they eat too much protein can increase the risk to health. With high-protein animal products are usually also high in saturated fats. There are a large number of high-fat foods over a long period, there was a risk of coronary heart disease, diabetes, stroke and some cancers. At the high-protein diet, the achievement of these goals impossible.

Some high-protein diets de emphasize high-carbohydrate high-fiber plant foods. These foods can help lower cholesterol when eaten as part of a balanced diet food. Reducing consumption of these products, usually means other, more high-fat foods to eat instead. This raises cholesterol levels even more, and increases the risk of cardiovascular.

With high-protein diet does not contain some of the necessary vitamins, minerals, fiber and other nutritional elements. High carbohydrate diet that includes fruits, vegetables, nonfat dairy products and whole grains has also been shown to lower blood pressure.
